It's hard to pin point ms. Mckay because she is so unique. She ranges from 60s pop to jazz to even hip hop and yet she has a sound totally her own. I just love her.

Happy Rhodes is an extremely underrated and very unknown (unless I'm mistaking) singer who sounds sometimes like Mary Fahl from the October Project (contralto) and sometimes like Kate Bush (mezzo soprano, I think). It's like she has two or three different voices. Here's her Myspace.

I do, and I think her music is wonderful. Whether she writes her own music or plays covers (Jukebox, The Covers Record), she always does it right. I think her best album is 'The Greatest', the name says it all.
